Dental Care for Kids in Centennial, CO
Healthy habits start early. Our team makes visits positive and simple with gentle cleanings, comfortable exams, and practical tips parents can use at home. We welcome kids over the age of 2 – new patients included.
Cleanings & exams keep small issues from becoming big ones
Routine cleanings remove plaque your child can’t brush away. A thorough exam helps us spot early cavities, gum irritation, bite changes, and enamel wear before they become bigger problems. When needed, we’ll take low-dose digital X-rays and share simple home-care tips that work for busy families.
- Gently remove tartar that brushing misses
- Catch cavities and gum irritation early
- Track growth, bite, and spacing as kids develop
- Make home care easier with kid-friendly tips
What happens during a pediatric dental visit?
We’ll start with a quick health review and any parent questions. Your hygienist gently cleans and polishes the teeth, then the dentist checks teeth, gums, and bite. If needed, we’ll discuss protective options like fluoride or sealants and share a clear plan you can feel good about.
- Gentle cleaning and polish
- Dentist exam + bite/growth check
- We move at your child's pace
- Fluoride as recommended for cavity protection
- Sealants offered for cavity-prone grooves
How often should I bring my child in for visits?
Most kids do well with a 6-month rhythm; we’ll adjust based on risk. Visit frequency depends on cavity risk, home care, braces, and medical history. If your child has frequent cavities, gum inflammation, or is in active orthodontics, a 3–4 month interval can help keep things on track. We’ll personalize a plan that fits your family and your calendar.
- Every 6 months for typical patients
- Every 3–4 months for higher cavity risk or braces
- Fluoride varnish and sealants reduce cavities
- We’ll send reminders and adjust as needs change
Sealants, fluoride, and help when you need it
Sealants quickly shield cavity-prone grooves on molars, and fluoride strengthens enamel – both simple, kid-friendly steps. We also offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas) when needed to take the edge off anxious visits. If your child has a toothache, a blow to the mouth, or a broken tooth, call us; we’ll talk you through first steps and arrange a same-day visit if needed.
- Sealants: fast, painless molar protection
- Fluoride: strengthens enamel against cavities
- Nitrous oxide available for anxious kids
- Same-day guidance for pain or dental injuries
What age should my child have their first dental visit?
By their first birthday or within 6 months of the first tooth. Early, easy visits build comfort and let us share cavity-prevention tips that work at home.
Do you offer frenectomy for tongue-tie or lip-tie?
Yes. Many cases can be treated in our Centennial office. If a pediatric specialist, ENT, or oral surgeon would be better for your child, we will coordinate a referral and follow-up.
How do I know if my child needs a frenectomy?
Look for trouble latching, long or clicky feeds, gassiness from swallowing air, difficulty lifting the tongue, a gap between front teeth, or brushing challenges around the upper lip. Older kids may report speech concerns or tightness. A quick exam is the best next step.
How is the procedure done and does it hurt?
We gently numb the area. The release is quick and may be done with sterile scissors or a soft-tissue laser, depending on the case. Most children feel pressure more than pain, and bleeding is minimal.
Do kids really need X-rays?
We take low-dose digital X-rays only when needed to check for cavities between teeth, monitor growth, and evaluate areas we can’t see.
Are fluoride treatments safe?
Yes. Professional fluoride is safe and effective for strengthening enamel. We’ll recommend it based on your child’s cavity risk.
What are sealants and how long do they last?
Yes. Professional fluoride is safe and effective for strengthening enamel. We’ll recommend it based on your child’s cavity risk.
My child is nervous. Can you help?
Absolutely. We use tell-show-do, lots of positive reinforcement, and parent presence. Nitrous oxide is available when appropriate.
Do you accept insurance for children’s visits?
Yes, we accept most plans and file claims for you. No insurance? Ask about our in-house membership for budget-friendly care.
