Dental Cleanings & Exams in Centennial, CO
Routine visits keep small issues from becoming big ones. We welcome new patients, accept most insurance plans, and offer an in-house membership for those without coverage.
Cleanings & Exams: The simplest way to protect your mouth
Plaque and tartar build up in places your brush can’t reach. Routine cleanings keep gums healthy, and a thorough exam lets us spot small issues – like early cavities, gum disease, or bite changes – before they become bigger problems. We’ll also screen for oral cancer, take digital X-rays when needed, and give you simple tips to make home care easier.
- Remove plaque and tartar your toothbrush misses
- Catch cavities, gum disease, and oral cancer early
- Get simple tips that make home care easier
Your cleaning & exam, step by step
Most visits take 60 to 75 minutes. We’ll start by reviewing your health history and taking digital X-rays only if they’re needed. Your hygienist will gently remove plaque and tartar, polish and floss, and share easy tips tailored to you. Then the dentist checks your teeth and gums, screens for oral cancer, reviews your bite and TMJ, and answers questions. You’ll leave with a clear plan and a fresh, clean feel.
- Gentle scaling to remove tartar buildup
- Polish, floss, and fluoride (as recommended)
- Dentist exam, oral-cancer screen, bite/TMJ check
- Return home with clear home-care guidance
How often should I schedule cleanings?
Most adults do well every 6 months; some benefit from more. Your ideal schedule depends on your gums, home care, and risk factors. If you’ve had gum disease, smoke or vape, have diabetes, are pregnant, wear braces, or get frequent cavities, a 3–4 month interval helps keep things on track. We’ll personalize a plan that fits your mouth and your calendar.
- Every 6 months for typical patients
- Every 3–4 months for gum disease/periodontal maintenance
- Kids: fluoride varnish and sealants reduce cavities
- We’ll set reminders and adjust as your needs change
We accept most dental insurance and offer an in-house membership for patients without coverage.
What we check - beyond “just a cleaning”
A “cleaning” visit is also a full exam. We check each tooth for decay and cracks, your gums for signs of infection, your bite/TMJ for wear or tension, and soft tissues for early signs of oral cancer. When needed, we take low-dose digital X-rays for a complete picture. You’ll hear what we see in plain language and leave with clear next steps.
How often should I schedule cleanings?
Most adults do well every six months. If you have gum disease, braces, dry mouth, or frequent cavities, we may recommend every three to four months. We’ll personalize a plan that fits your mouth and your calendar.
What happens during a cleaning and exam?
Your hygienist removes plaque and tartar, polishes and flosses, and shares tips tailored to you. The dentist checks teeth, gums, bite/TMJ, and screens for oral cancer. We take digital X-rays only when they’re needed and then review your results together.
Will a cleaning hurt?
Cleanings shouldn’t hurt. You may feel light pressure in spots with tartar or sensitive areas. Tell us how you’re feeling – topical numbing and gentle techniques can keep you comfortable.
How long does the appointment take?
First visits are usually 60–75 minutes so we can do a full exam and any needed X-rays. Most return cleanings take about 45–60 minutes.
Do I need X-rays every visit?
Not always. Frequency depends on your cavity risk and history. Many patients need bitewing X-rays every 12–24 months. We use low-radiation digital imaging and only take X-rays when they help your care.
Is it covered by insurance? What if I don’t have insurance?
Most dental plans cover routine cleanings, exams, and X-rays at little or no cost. We’ll check benefits and file claims for you. No insurance? Ask about our in-house membership for discounted fees.
Do you see kids?
Yes. We welcome children and can often coordinate family appointments. We focus on comfort and simple tips that make home care easier.
I’ve been told I have gum disease. Can I still get a cleaning?
Yes, but you may need a deeper cleaning first and then maintenance cleanings every three to four months. We’ll explain what we see and map out a plan.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Bring a photo ID, insurance card (if you have one), and a list of medications. Arrive a few minutes early to update forms and relax. Our forms can also be found in the navigation of our website, if necessary.
Can you fix small problems the same day?
When the schedule allows, we can handle simple treatments – like a small filling or sealant – the same day. If not, we’ll book a quick follow-up that works for you.
